Extract pages from a PDF
Free, private and fast: everything runs in your browser and your PDF file is never uploaded.
Why extract pages from a PDF
Often you need only a small part of a long PDF: the signature page of a contract, one month from an annual bank statement, a single chapter from a manual, or the two pages of a report your colleague actually asked about. Sending the whole file is slower, and it shares pages the other person has no reason to see. Here you open the PDF, click the thumbnails of the pages you want or type their numbers such as 4, 9-12, and download a new PDF that holds exactly those pages. Your original file stays as it is. The pages are copied, not redrawn, so text can still be selected and searched, scans keep their full resolution, and links between the pages you picked keep working.
How to extract pages from a PDF
- Drop your PDF in the box, or click to choose it. A thumbnail of every page appears.
- Click the pages you want, or type their numbers in the Pages box, for example 1, 4-6.
- Click Extract pages and download the new PDF.
What changes when you convert
Page numbers mean positions in the file
"Page 5" is the fifth page of the file, counted from the cover. A book or report often prints other numbers on its pages, or starts again at 1 after a preface in roman numerals. Where a PDF has such page labels, the thumbnails show them in brackets so you can match the two.
One new file, original order
The extracted pages end up in one PDF in the order they have in the original, whatever order you click them in. If every page should become its own file, the split tool does that in one step.
What comes along
Bookmarks that point to the pages you picked stay in the side panel, and form fields on them stay fillable with their current values. Internal links to pages you left out are removed, so nothing in the new file points to a page that is not there.
Signed and encrypted PDFs
A digital signature covers the whole document, so it is no longer valid for the extract. Encrypted PDFs, including ones that open without a password but restrict editing, cannot be changed here; the tool says so instead of producing a broken file.
About the formats
PDF (Portable Document Format) was created by Adobe in 1993 and has been an ISO standard since 2008. A PDF looks the same on every device, which is why it is used for contracts, invoices, forms, manuals and scanned documents.
- A page can hold text, vector graphics and images, each placed exactly.
- Scanned documents are usually one image per page.
- A PDF can be protected with a password that is needed to open or edit it.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The pages are copied by your browser on your own computer or phone, and the file never leaves it.
Is the extracted PDF smaller?
Usually much smaller, because images and drawings that appear only on the pages you left out are not copied. Fonts are copied whole when a page you kept uses them.
Can I pick pages that are far apart?
Yes. Type them separated by commas, such as 2, 15, 40-42, or click Odd or Even to select every other page, then add or remove single pages by clicking them.
Does the quality change?
No. Text, vector drawings and images are taken over as they are, without being compressed again.
